Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how TipLog ("we", "us", "our", or the "App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the TipLog Android application. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you provide

TipLog is designed to help you track your tips and shift earnings. The data you create in the App — shift dates, hours, hourly wage, cash tips, credit tips, tip-outs, sales, role, section, and any notes you write — is provided by you and stored on your device.

1.2 Account information (only if you sign in)

If you choose to enable cloud backup, you sign in with your Google account using Google Sign-In. We receive your Google account email address and a unique user ID so that we can sync your data to your private cloud storage. We do not receive your Google password.

1.3 Automatically collected information

When you use the App, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party services we rely on (see Section 3):

  • Advertising identifier: Google AdMob uses your device's Advertising ID to serve and measure ads.
  • Device and usage information: AdMob and Firebase may receive device model, OS version, language, approximate region (derived from IP), and basic crash diagnostics.
  • IP address: Processed by Google services as part of routine network operations.

1.4 What we do not collect

TipLog does not request access to your location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, files, calendar, or call logs. We do not run any analytics SDK that profiles your in-app behavior beyond what AdMob requires to serve ads.

2. How we use information

  • To provide and maintain the App's core features (logging shifts, calculating earnings, generating reports).
  • To sync your data to your private cloud storage so it can be restored on a new device, only when you are signed in.
  • To serve advertisements via Google AdMob, which keeps the App free.
  • To respond to your support requests if you contact us.
  • To comply with applicable law and protect against fraud or abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your shift data for any purpose other than providing the App's features to you.

3. Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

3.1 Google Firebase (Authentication & Cloud Firestore)

Provided by Google LLC. Used to authenticate you with Google Sign-In and to store your shift data in your private cloud collection (visible only to you when signed in with the same Google account). See Firebase Privacy and Google's Privacy Policy.

3.2 Google AdMob (Advertising)

Provided by Google LLC. Used to display ads in the App. AdMob may collect your Advertising ID, IP address, and basic device/usage information to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where allowed. You can reset or limit your Advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads). See AdMob & Privacy.

3.3 Google Play Services

Required for Google Sign-In, AdMob, and in-app review prompts on Android. See Google Privacy Policy.

4. Storage, security, and location

Your shift data is stored locally on your device using Android's standard private storage. If you sign in with Google, the same data is mirrored to Google Cloud Firestore in a collection scoped to your Google account user ID. Firestore rules enforce that only you can read or write your own data — your data is not visible to other users.

Firebase services are operated by Google and may store data on servers located in the United States or other countries where Google operates. By using cloud backup, you consent to this transfer and processing.

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.

5. Data retention

  • Local data: Stored on your device until you delete it from the App, uninstall the App, or clear app data.
  • Cloud data: Stored in Firestore until you delete it. You can sign out at any time, and you can request deletion of your cloud data by contacting us (see Section 9).
  • Reports you export (PDF/CSV files) live in the App's private folder on your device until you delete them in the App or uninstall.

6. Your rights and choices

  • Use the App without an account. Cloud backup is optional. Without signing in, no data leaves your device.
  • Sign out at any time from the Backup screen.
  • Delete your data. You can delete individual shifts inside the App, clear app data in your device settings, or contact us to request deletion of your cloud data.
  • Export your data as PDF or CSV from the Stats screen at any time.
  • Manage ads by resetting your Advertising ID in your device settings.
  • Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA), you may have additional rights including access, correction, portability, restriction, and objection. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address in Section 9.

7. Children's privacy

TipLog is intended for users who are at least 16 years of age. The App is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
